PARISH IGNITED BY

LAY WITNESS TALK ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2019

Written and Given by OTIS HOLLOWAY

 What is stewardship?

Light the candles, bear the cross

A servers’ work, is worth the cost

Worth the effort, worth the time

When there’s silence in church, a server chimes.

 Lectors read the scriptures first

 Emotion felt in every verse

Our choir has never missed a beat

All these things make church complete

What is stewardship, that I ask?

Watching greeters smile and pass

The youth gather books after Sunday Mass

Jonah ministries and “Circle” discussion are last.

What is stewardship, could it be

That feeling of added responsibility

But maybe there’s more, like Broadway Tuesdays

Hillside Manor Mondays, or Senior fun days

Spread the word, and spread the cheer

That faith and happiness and love is here

What is stewardship, is it hard

Hard as planting trees in the church’s backyard

Hard as cutting grass and picking weeds

A good steward cares less about the difficulties

What is stewardship, is it in us all

Serving food to the community at St. Vincent de Paul

Involved in the annual picnic, fashion show, trivia night

Donut Sundays, Pancake Breakfast, Fasching Sonntag, or movie night

So many options, how can we choose?

Choose to be involved, and you will never lose

What is stewardship, the effort to do more?

We are all called to serve, let us all serve the Lord.
